Join us on Saturday, May 4th at The District at Eastover for Adopt a Friend - An adoption & fundraising event benefiting the Animal Rescue Fund of Mississippi (ARF)!

The event will be located in the breezeway in between Nursery Rhymes Children's Boutique and the former Cultivation Food Hall from 11am-2pm.

ARF is a no-kill shelter that is home to over 60 cats and 240 dogs at any given time. They provide the residents a safe and happy environment while they await adoption. Come visit the pets available for adoption on May 4th at The District!

We will also be collecting monetary and in-kind donations for ARF! Needed items include:
Pet food, bowls, cat littler, puppy pads, beds, kennels, leashes, collars, cleaning supplies, and more. A full list of their needs can be found at www.arfms.org/donate.

PLUS, support ARF when you shop at Nursery Rhymes on May 4th! Nursery Rhymes will be donating a portion of their sales to ARF on this day.

Taste of Mississippi is a tasting event that offers culinary delights from fabulous area restaurants and beverages from local distributors, with a competition among participating restaurants for Best Appetizer, Best Entrée, Best Dessert, Best Presentation, and People's Choice.

For 35 years, this event has garnered local and statewide support from restaurants that simply enjoy supporting Stewpot in its mission to feed, clothe, and shelter individuals who are homeless and in need.

All proceeds from Taste of Mississippi benefit Stewpot Community Services. Stewpot Community Services provides compassionate assistance, at no charge, to people in need of physical and spiritual nourishment. Through our ministries, we serve people who are hungry, poor, and homeless, offering food, shelter, clothing, mentoring, care, and concern. The Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk Series was created to honor the heroic life and death of Stephen Siller, a New York City firefighter (FDNY) who lost his life on September 11, 2001 after strapping on his gear and running through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the Twin Towers. The Tunnel to Towers Foundation carries forward a legacy of courage and heroism. Built upon the mantra, “While we have time, LET US DO GOOD,” the Foundation supports our nation’s fallen and catastrophically injured first responders, military heroes, and their families.

RACES:
--Blue Jean Mile (new this year): This is a one mile race done in full-length blue jeans. No blue-jean shorts allowed
--Donut Mile: Each participant will eat 1 donut at the start of the race and 1 donut after the first, second, and third laps.
--Beer Mile: Participants will drink 1 beer at the start and 1 beer after the first, second, and third laps. The beers must be consumed in the designated beer drinking areas, and participants cannot start running until they have finished each beer.
--Beer Relay: Teams may consist of 2, 3, or 4 people. Each participant must run at least 1 lap. This event will consist of running four laps around The District. Each participant must consume 1 beer before running a lap.
